Future Problem Solvers

Discover Our Education Programs

Each year Colorado K-12 students participate in a variety of challenges designed to empower curious youth to become changemakers.

Competition Programs

Students compete in three divisions: junior (grades 4 to 6), middle (grades 7 to 9), and senior (grades 10 to 12). There are opportunities for students to work in teams or on an individual basis.

Global Issues

Each school year, two practice problems (optional) and one qualifying problem are available for all to complete. Those who qualify for the Colorado State Bowl complete a fourth problem challenge for a chance to attend the annual International Conference and compete in the World Finals in June. Learn more

Community Projects

Students identify a real world problem or area of concern they want to address in a community of their choosing. After using our problem-solving process to develop their project proposal, they then focus on implementing their project action plan while documenting their progress in a project report and supporting materials like a portfolio. Students compete individually, often as a complement to Global Issues. They pick one of the four annual problem topics on which to write a related short story. Students write 1,500 words or less imagining the logical outcome of actions or events set at least 20 years in the future. Learn more
